Old Country Favorites

Due to my mom's influence, I liked the traditional country music (even before country was popular and you would admit that you liked it).

My sister Patty and I used to love this song, and as adults, whenever we heard it, we would call each other and play it...
Come a Little Bit Closer

So many memories of our cottage, going out on the boat, and driving to the cottage in our 70 something Chevy Blazer...
I've Always Been Crazy

Here's a Danny Walker special...
You Always Leave Me Holding the Bag

We would sing this as we headed to the cottage...
On the Road Again

My friend Sheila's brother, Charlie used to love this song. It always reminds me of him...
Like a Rhinestone Cowboy

Speaking of Sheila, my dad always used to sing this one to her. I'm surprised she still came over. ...
Tequila Sheila

A few Mac Davis tunes...
Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me
It's Hard to be Humble

I used the base of our fireplace like a stage and performed all of the "Coal Miner's Daughter" songs using a Mr. Microphone...
Coal Miner's Daughter

D'Wight...True country!...
A Thousand Miles From Nowhere
Another song of the times...
Okie From Muskogee

One of my first favorite George Strait songs...

Five Minutes

More woman power. Who needs men?...
Better Things to Do

This song has all the makings of a true counry song...
You Never Even Called Me by My Name

Hopefully, I didn't realize the meaning of this song at the time it came out...
I'd Love to Lay You Down

How about some Bellamy Brothers...
Let Your Love Flow
If I Said You Have a Beautiful Body

I used to love the group Alabama. I remember going to their concert at the Rosemont Horizon with my
parents and Grandma B...
Close Enough to Perfect
I stopped liking them after a while.

How about some Hank Williams?...
Jambalaya on the Bayou

This is a little before my time, but again, it was my mom's influence...
King of the Road

My mom used to say this was my dad's song...
Gonna Hire a Wino

I used to think this song was "Livin' on Toast and Wine"...
Tulsa Time

Here's another one that I misunderstood. I thought they were saying "Fred" instead of "Friend!"...
(Don't Take Her) She's All I Got

What can I say?...
The Door is Always Open

Not sure why I liked this one, but my mom did too...
Somebody Done Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song

Some of my favorite George Strait oldies...

How Do You Like Me Now

My dad and the guys at Thiessen used to sing this to Pat Malloy (who dated my sister) before she decided to marry my brother-in-law.
Could've Been Me

One of My First Favorite Songs

My mom claims that I was a bad singer even at the age of three when this song was popular. She said that I used to sit in my car seat with the little steering wheel attached to it and sing this song as she drove.

Indiana Wants Me

My Favorite Christmas Songs

This list will be the shortest, so I thought I'd start here:

Even before I fell in love with Mexico, I liked this song...
Feliz Navidad

My two favorite men (George and Kenny) sing their Christmas tunes...

All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan

This is such an upbeat Christmas carol...
All I Want for Christmas is You
Memories are made of this...

This one reminds me of a Christmas play in Lake Geneva, WI...
Baby It's Cold Outside

We performed this one in 7th or 8th grade with Mr. Hartnett...
Sleigh Ride

A Christmas song of the times...
So This is Christmas

This song was on my Oak Ridge Boys Christmas album. I just loved it because Christmas is about kids!...

A Christmas song with meaning...
